Dean Brandhagen - Handyman Services
UnderpinningUnderpinning your foundation can stop damages from further settling and movement, caused by drying conditions in the soil.. If your structure is settling, in Regina particularly, it is very likely due to uneven ground moisture conditions on the various sides of the property. Check for water ponding in areas that are experiencing movement. Usually there is a ponding area on one side coupled with a drying area on another causing a double jeopardy to the soil moisture and consequently building shifting and settlement. The south side of a property is very often the driest and soil moisture conditions are lessened causing the clay to shrink and the foundation to settle. Also, check for large trees in the vicinity of a settled foundation, as they can remove a lot of soil moisture and cause the gumbo soil to shrink. Sunken and leaning structures can be stabilized or leveled. Several procedures are useful for this application.
