Reinforced Wall Braces
Reinforced Wall BracesWall braces can be taken a step beyond just bracing and a secondary wall can be poured inside of the original wall to provide a new smooth surface for an extremely cracked wall and a better water-seal for seeping and leaking wall cracks. Rebar is added through the braces to give a lateral support, then forms are attached and filled with concrete as in the photos below.
The forms were completed to the proper height and filled with concrete, to form a new secure, smooth and attractive reinforced wall capable of withstanding soil pressures and keeping water out..
In this actual example the wall was so deflected that the windows were deemed unusable and concrete was poured through them to further strengthen the wall. The exterior wall was then sheathed to a straight surfaced and stucco applied, to complete the cosmetic repairs.
Conclusion: The wall at this location used to seep badly and after the secondary wall was added it became a dry basement. Quite an effective repair method without disturbing the exterior landscaping.
